Update on Richard Sadowski
Fri., Dec. 31. 2021 9:07pm EST
J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX here again.
As regular readers of our newsletter know, longtime ApX fan and friend Richard "Kennedy" Sadowski, has been hospitalized for COVID for about a month now and has been on a ventilator. Although things looked very bleak as recently as two weeks ago, God has been working wonders.
On Sunday, the day after Christmas, my family and I were visiting ApX bassist Keith Haynie and his family, and we all got a chance to do a video-chat with Richard on the phone. Actually, he wasn't able to speak to us, but he was able to see and hear us. We told him that we have been giving our fans updates in the newsletter so they can pray for him.
We weren't able to see him during the call, but we were able to speak to him, thanks to his closest friend, Patty De Bonis, who is one of the few people who can visit him. She acted as a go-between and coordinated the call on her phone and was able to tell us how Richard was reacting to what we said. He didn't want us to see him in his current condition, which is why the video part of the chat was only one way.
Here are three updates Patty has given us since then:
MONDAY NIGHT
"Thank you for talking with him. He was happy to hear from you. He really looks good, but he is not ready to be seen. We have a collection of your CDs there to listen to."
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
"Kennedy is leaving ICU today. Two weeks ago, the doctors said it would not happen. Last week, he was faced with awful uncertainties. Four days now, he has been breathing on his own. God is so good. Please thank all your fans who prayed for his healing."
THURSDAY NIGHT
"He is still in ICU. They didn't move him after all. They say he is the same. One nurse said it would be best to keep him in ICU for the most watchful care. So many ups and downs."
We praise God for all He has done for our friend. Thank you for reading these updates and praying along with us. Please continue to pray. Thank you.
