Ghosts
Parody of "Girls" performed and written by Dwight Twilley
(Matthew 14:22-33, Mark 6:45-53, Luke 24:33-42, John 20:19-23)
Well, I've seen so many things I did not know what they were
Though I've been lost and found and been involved for a while
I thought of two of them things we deemed were bad that were good
So let's have a song of times I misunderstood about ghosts
Ghosts!
Well, the night was long, but as we set out to sea
The weather put life in harm's way, if you know what I mean
Well, we got seized with fright, because the waves had us beat
Then someone said there was a man out there standin'
That's a ghost!
He walked through the waters and above them (Ghost!)
He stopped and we swore He was hoverin' (Ghost!)
He seemed to be surfin' in the breezes (Ghost!)
He smiled, and He said He was Jesus
Tell You what, I told Him
Tell me walk towards You
Tell me why I'd want to
Woooo!
You think THAT was crazy? Wait till you find out what happened after He was crucified!
Well, I'd been told He was raised, yet it just couldn't be
But then I felt so good as He was talkin' to me
He said, I can't be a phantom — examine my flesh!
I'm the Son of Man, but I'll partake in some fish
I'm no ghost
He walked through a dwelling that was locked and (Ghost!)
We saw He was more than we thought then (Ghost!)
He'll teach you the virtue in believin' (Ghost!)
The Christ came to save, and you need Him
(Ghost!)
Tell all that to others
Tell them Christ has suffered
Tell them that He rose, too
(I'm ... not ... a ghost)
(Ghost!)
He walked through the waters and above them (Oo oo oo! Ghost!)
He stopped and we swore He was hoverin' (Oo oo oo! Ghost!)
He seemed to be surfin' in the breezes (Oo oo oo! Ghost!)
He smiled, and He said He was Jesus (Ghost!)
(I'm ... not ... a ghost)
He walked through a dwelling that was locked and (Ghost!)
We saw He was more than we thought then (Ghost!)
(I'm ... not ... a ghost)
He'll teach you the virtue in believin' (Ghost!)
The Christ came to save, and you need Him (Ghost!)
(I'm ... not ... a ghost)
(Ghost!)
(Ghost!) (I'm ... not ... a ghost)
(Ghost!)
(Ghost!) (I'm ... not ... a ghost)
(Ghost!)
Matthew 14:26
When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
Luke 24:36-37
While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
